Cyberattack on Bragg Gaming Group
Bragg Gaming Group, a prominent Canadian technology provider for the global casino industry, has confirmed it was the target of a recent cyberattack. In a statement, the company announced that the incident was quickly contained and appears to have had no significant impact on its operations or the security of personal information.
According to a press release, Bragg became aware of a “cybersecurity incident” in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 16. The company immediately initiated its response protocol, which included engaging third-party cybersecurity experts to help contain the threat and investigate the scope of the breach.
An initial assessment concluded that the attack was limited to Bragg’s internal computer systems.
“At the present time, there is no indication that any personal information was affected,” the company stated. “Additionally, the breach has had no impact on the ability of the company to continue its operations, nor has it been restricted from accessing any data that has been subject to the breach.”
The swift containment suggests that if the attack was ransomware, it was thwarted before any data could be encrypted or stolen.
Bragg Gaming Group operates as a business-to-business (B2B) provider, supplying the software, games, and backend platforms that power online casinos. It does not run its own consumer-facing gambling sites. The company has a significant footprint in the industry, serving over 200 customers across North America, Latin America, and Europe.
The incident at Bragg is the latest in a series of cybersecurity events targeting the iGaming technology sector. In late 2024, both Australia’s Ainsworth Game Technology and the multinational International Game Technology reported significant disruptions from similar attacks, highlighting a concerning trend for the industry’s critical infrastructure providers.
